bigbulls 26
Just wondered if many people are using these on their birds. I think it would mean a bit less time in the casting jacket compared to mounting a plectrum, but is it too much strain on one feather? Quote Link to post

EskdaleHawks 8
If you are talking about placing a cable tie direct to the feather shaft I wouldn't! the shaft will become weak at that point. It is best to use a small piece of leather super glued to the top of the feather shaft with a hole punched through and a small eyelette attached then cable tie the tail bell to this. This will keep the bell clear of the deck feathers and it rings loud and clear. Leg bells should be attached with traditional bewitts. Hope this helps! Quote Link to post
Rentomski 0
Double brass tail mount glued to a deck does everything; less for the bird to pick at and room for the tag. KISS. Remember that Harris' shake their tails all the time! Quote Link to post
bigbulls 26
Thanks for the replies. I was actually referring to the tie mounts from B.L falconry, they are used with a wrap of leather or such around the feather as mentioned in one reply above. They seem to hold the bell up quite high, and with this being all on one feather it seems to want to twist as the weight of the bell pulls one way. A chap who keeps bops local to me had a bad result using one, and my father didnt fair much better when he tried one. I think i will stick to my old tried and tested method when the little male HH comes out in December. Quote Link to post
