dogs-n-natives 1,182
If you want to go down the rescue road, it would be a safer bet in my opinion, to re-home a young lurcher. Hear far too much bad about ex racers, as they have had no such up-bringing, and will have no experience in the field. The winner of the hunting life lamping contest last year was a rescue lurcher, and a very efficient rabbiter it is too. Quote Link to post

Guest deerhound hunter
Any good for rabbiting when combined with a spaniel or terrier for flushing them out? my mate had 1 try bring on the lamp and day just kept over shouting everythink then 1 day took a little knock on its leg so it could,nt run is hard or the mark and started nailing everythink,so i think if you can to slow down into a turn then are good rabbit dogs don,t no about longears Quote Link to post
Cochyn 0
A friend of a friend brought his three year old rescue hound out one day, said he thought it was coming on well and would make a rabbit dog. When he let it off the lead it just ran up and down the field until it was knackered. You'd have needed the patience of a saint to get that dog to work properly. Quote Link to post
mcass123 6
personal opinion mate, watch them with neighbours cats, i hate cats with a passion and wouldn't give a shiit if they were all on an island somewhere but it might bring you problems to your door if it got the chance of nailing one, very fast dogs, can't deny that and no doubt will do bunnies for fun and no prob long ears too, totaly my opinion though buddy atb mcass Quote Link to post
