Guest daisytaff
My bitch had 12 pups - now 16 days old and getting very lively especially when feeding. I could do with general advice for helping her over the next couple of weeks. She's done really well, her first litter, and it's new to me but she has really strong, big pups. I fed them for the first time yesterday on a really skinny cereal slop and twice again today and so far so good. Any advice gratefully received as I want a good result ! Quote Link to post

Guest furryferter
Ive got a littter of eight at the moment doing well ,the best advice I can give you is feed them the best food you can afford get as much meat into them as you can ,mine are better fed than me & pump as much good food into the bitch as well give the bitch a calcium tablet every few days good luck with them growing strong Edited September 7, 2006 by furryferter Quote Link to post
GARY 76
Keep the pups nails trimmed so not to cause to much damage to the bitch, and just get as much grub down them............... skinned and gutted whole rabbit helped loads with mine. Gary Quote Link to post

rob reynolds uk 3
around the three weeks or 21days for you thick feckers :11: ,. try them on tinned dog food mash it up with a fork till its fine on a plate ,around the 4 weeks then try them on whole rabbit in the skin but gutted ..yes leave the skin on ,they should not eat it ,it will help in later life ?? feed the mother as much as she can eat two times a day ,i always give mine milk as well ..never lost one pup yet . Guest daisytaff
Thanks to everyone for the advice. I got hold of some Lamb Lac today and they've had their first lot. Next question - worming ? Plummer recommends a liquid wormer at 3 weeks and I just wondered how folks felt about this ? Will put some pics of the pups on later tonight. Quote Link to post
Guest Croc
Had the same problem with my ESS recently. I agree with the guys get them on meat ASAP I found that tinned puppy food mixed with powered milk was best to start them, easy to get hold of and feed and then move onto minced meat etc. Give the bitch the same as she'll need all the energy giving food she can get + a calcium tablet evry day then reduce the milk gradually until fully weaned. Good luck mate, believe me you think it's bad now wait till thier weaned!!!!!!!! LOL Quote Link to post
