macberran 2
Hello everyone, I don't trap much however round the farm since summer we've had a lot of rats. I got hold of the VICTORY traps and set a few out. I tried various things on and peanut butter seemed too do the trick. Had eight in the last week, and the dog had a further three big ones. What has happened though is the last three trapped have been eaten in the trap. They have been a fair size 8-9inch, and the traps also in an enclosed area(old pup pen) with a run along the back wall. The trap being dragged along for 3-4ft with the rat in it , before being consummed. I take it there are bigger hungrier rats still there. Quote Link to post

macberran 2
We keep poultry as in geese and have never had any sign off mink. Dogs are lose in the yard and never let on. This is happening like straight away, traps checked three times a day and then a corpse. All stomach and soft tissue gone, just the back bone and head. The pup run is inside a barn with a concrete floor though it has cracks and gaps round the edges. Up against the barn wall. I presumed it would just be a bigger rat! though I had not expected cannabalism unless really pushed. Quote Link to post
ratattack 111
Other rats will happily eat their dead brethren, you need more traps Quote Link to post
macberran 2
Ratattack,I do have 12 but only 5 in use. This one is the one getting the points, I've set some as tunnels with no results so I'll put down a few more and see what I get. Had another this afternoon around 8 inches without the tail. Anyway thanks for the feedback guys I'll keep you posted. Quote Link to post
