CCI 22 Rim Fire Segmenting

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys

Has anyone tried the new CCI segmenting rim fire rounds advertised in the shooting times, apparently they remove ALL ricochets which is a big selling point as far as I'm concerned if they do what they say on the tin I will certainly be buying nothing else but do they work.....??

They seemed to be a sort of urban mtyth until very recently . Heard of but not seen .Like you I'll use em (if they shoot straight) but I'm not sure that they are sub-sonic ??? Someone will know .

Rang my local gunshop today (Greenfields Salisbury)to see if they had stock. They had none but the CCI rep had been in talking about them but could give no firm date for stock availability. Said to stay in touch over the next few weeks but was sceptical as to whether it might actually take months to happen.

I had a box of 100 CCI subs a while back. Not these ones admitedly, but they were all over the place! Every fouth or fifth one would go supersonic and some seemed well under what they should have been.

They were dead cheap, but I wouldn't entertain them for rabbits again. Used them all up on tin cans in the end.

I tend to shoot at longish range with the .22 and often take head/chest shots at 120yds with a rangefinder. I wouldn't dream of using CCI's unless they've upped the consistency a heck of a lot.

Magtech do some with massive hollow points, and I put a few hundred of them through the gun. Very few of them bounced and what they hit, they messed up nicely, but again I wasn't getting the consistency I wanted.

I settled on Eley's in the end. I don't get many bounces with these, but perhaps it's beacause more of them end up slapping into rabbits rather than striking over or under what I'm aiming at.

Used 220+ of these up to now (CZ452).Hard push to chamber, close to limit about 1 in 10 go transonic with a rare crack, they do ricochet but not as often & with a different sound(milder).Surprisingly accurate(normal cci subs not in my gun)but expensive.Certainly hit with some "wallop" & they knock rabbits down better(chestshots) than my normal favourite Winchesters.Still can't make my mind up myself about them due to the noise & cost.

Great thanks for the feedback, suppose I need to get hold of some and try them out on some bunnies

There is a list of uk stockists on the CCI website, find your local and hassle them!!

Apparently my local will have them in next week! I'll let you know!
