If you look on you tube there is a coursing video of this particular dog in what I would describe as desert conditions. Much the same as the saluki. If I find the video again I will copy and paste it on here.

A friend of mine has them. The strain he has are very strong, hardy and durable. They can run on the worst hard ground and heat and not suffer.

Good for Africa. I dont think they would do well here or in UK.

i was going to reccomend him to pm you mate, as i remember you have experience with these dogs? but could not remember you user name

a sloughi is just a variation of a saluki, it looks pretty much the same and does the same job,The North African Sighthound we know as the Sloughi originates from Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia and Libya. In the old days the Sloughi hunted gazelle, desert hare, antelope, fennec (desert fox), hyena and ostrich, sometimes boar, and jackals. Today the breed is used to hunt gazelle, desert hare and fennec; its main role in some areas being to control the jackal populations which attack goat and sheep herds and poultry. In Tunisia, the traditional hunt represents a Berber rider galloping behind his Sloughi chasing prey. In Morocco, Sloughis on a coupler accompany riders for jackal hunting.
