mubz2cool 4
hi all. I have just sent of for my variation for a .270 (currently have a 6.5x55) and have seen a very nice remington 700 in laminated stock with a moderator and a cheap scope i will be replacing if i bought the rifle. The guy wants £700 for the lot. My question is how do you find the remingtons with regards to accuracy etc. Also how will these compair to a sako 75 which i have also found for about the same price but with out a mod. Any advice will be much appriciated. Thanks Mo Quote Link to post

Having said that all rifles are a bit like cars - two people can buy a Ford Focus, one has no problems the other nothing but problems. Given the choice in your situation I would look more seriously at the Sako - generally a better build. Why on earth are you changing from 6.5 to 270? The 6.5 is only about 1.5" lower at 200 yards and a much sweeter calibre to shoot. I tried the 270 then the 6.5 - still with the 6.5 Quote Link to post

Snap. I have the 700SPS Stainless in .308 with the X-Mark Pro trigger. Basically it is out of the box, adjusted the trigger lighter, and cut 3" off the flagpole known as a barrel, Predator 8 Compact Mod on the end, it shoots 1" all day and better when I'm in the right mood! I have 2 x Tikka T3 and in honesty I really don't think there is a lot between them and the Remington, the Sako should definately have the edge though! Quote Link to post
crumblyned 0
Same as Deker, only not stainless will shoot better than half inch all day @ 200yds the only weak point is me on the end of it. Quote Link to post
Mr_Logic 5
I have an SPS Tactical in 223, which shoots all kind of ammunition to better than half inch at 100 yards. All I did was put a rifle basix trigger in it, the rest is factory. I passed on a Remington in 243 today in favour of a Howa, which I've been out testing and its first group is about 3/4 inch, in fog at night in a cold wet field, so the best I would think is yet to come! I tried the 270 then the 6.5 - still with the 6.5 i am happy with the 6.5 but i think you only gain the most out of this round when you reload. at the moment i just dont have the time. I am using rws kone point 128 grain which i am very happy with. .270 will be used on the hill for hind culling. Quote Link to post
SNAP SHOT 194
hill for hind culling, the 6.5 can handle that job with ease, well i hope the posts were of a little help to you... ATB. Snap. Quote Link to post
JohnGalway 1,043
Got a Remington 700 VL SS in .223, I like it, shoots better than I do, kills effectively as long as I do my part. I liked the trigger that came with it, shot well with that. Changed to a Jewell because I always wanted one, now that I got that installed properly and adjusted to my liking I'm quite happy.
