chewton 7
I try to start young ferrets on little 2 to 3 holers. If you don,t have a dog get up there at first light and you've a good chance of actually seeing the rabbits run down the holes that way if the ferret shows you can encourage it back down until it finds. Once you've bolted a couple you'll get more confidence in your ferrets Quote Link to post
labsnlurchers 39
i think that its most likely that there were no rabbits home. My advice would be to keep at it. Make sure you stay quiet while your ferreting, sometimes a rabbit will rather risk it with the ferret than bolt if it knows your out there. Other thing is when the ferrets show, check their nails for rabbit fur. If they have fur on their nails then there is a rabbit home that won't bolt, get the finder out and try to get a mark next time the ferret enters. If your ever in Aberystwyth you'd be welcome for a day out ferreting with us. We use a dog to mark the warrens that have rabbits at home, would give you a chance to see what your ferrets do when they are definately at home Quote Link to post
