stealthy1 3,964
At 4 or 5 months they may be just a bit young, but more than likely there's nothing in the warrens, droppings and activity are not garenteed signs that the warren is inhabited, try your ferrets on a warren that you see rabbits going into next time you take them out Quote Link to post

fensaluki 35
even at eight months mate they are still young and trying to learn their trade and if they are going to ground for decent amounts of time and are showing at most if not all holes then they are sure to be doing their best for you. Stick with it mate it will all come right in the end Quote Link to post

andy s410c 59
Don't always bank on well used, dropping covered sets to produce rabbits it's not the first & last time it'll happen to us & our ferts. If you have a marking dog the job's sorted if you don't(like me) it's something you'll have to just get on with. Soon as the youngsters get into the thick of it with bugs, they'll shift them...show patience with them & they'll come good. Failing that knock them on the head & get a couple of 100% guaranteed workers off some bloke in a pub for a few quid each Quote Link to post
billy_wizz 2
Don't worry to much there still young i kept a jill and a hob out off 2 litters i've bred the jills started to work seriously at bout 8-9 months the hobs took till 12-13 months! It might be that hobs take longer to take the work seriously or it might just be a quirk of my litters im sure someone with more experience would know! Quote Link to post
jamie g 17
i wouldnt worry to much. it prob is there wasnt anything down there. depends on how many ferrets you put down if the bury is very big. the rabbits dont allways bolt there give it the runabout if you only have a couple of ferrets in a massive bury. one of our ferrets is very good and if he is down for a couple of mins you no he is on to something. othertimes he comes up right away which tells me there isnt anything down there.
