4 th night lucky! (for us not the fox!)

Recommended Posts

Had a fox hanging around the farm since Wednesday winding the dogs up. Baited the field up and every morning checked it, it was being eaten so tonight my fella and his mate Bill sat in the bedroom window with the lamp and sure enough there he was. Should sleep better tonight without the dogs going mad in the kennel!

Here is a pic of Bill with the culprit

awsome calibre in my opinion i have a tikka t3 lite stainless with t8 mod 2.5-10x 56 scopes wouldnt swap it for the world but am now thinking of 243 as an all rounder.

Hi Willum,

I have a Tikka 590 with 19" barrel with T8 Zeiss 3-9x50 scope, brilliant for foxes, and roe in Scotland.

Cheers

Bob.

Yes I know, you'd think the whole country would be the same, yes just drops them in their tracks, no need for .240.

how do you find the 22/250 with a 19 inch barrel ? is it abit more snappy being shorter ? and do you get big flash and muzzle

Hi Jamie,

I've only ever had a .22-250 in the small centre fire rifles, so nothing to compare with, IE .222 & .223,

but I did have a .22-250 Winchester Coyote with laminated stock and 20" heavy varmint barrel which wieghed a ton, there was zilch kick off that because of the wieght, so I have only the Wincheter to campare it with, and yes it is snappy compared to the Winchester.

I hope this makes a bit of sense to you.

Regards

Bob.

Hi Jamie,

Forgot to answer about the flash, I have always used it with the T8 Mod. on, and have never noticed a flash, even in the dark when lamping.

Bob.

i was going to have my barrel cut to 22 inchs as its 26 inchs at moment plus the mod to add to that. from what ive seen and been told on quick load you dont really lose that much fps to really no any difference. i waqs told being shorter tho it would be abit snappy. and maybe abit louder. but powder like vit 135 has 100 percent burn rate before it leaves barrel anyhow so shouldnt be to much of a worry.

I would say that 22 inches is about right, I believe from what I've heard that most of the Mod 595s were 20 inches from new.
