Superglue works, but don't seal up the whole cut, just in case it is infected. It must be very clean, and dry, preferably where possible with alcohol. Just leave gaps in the wound where infection can come out. It will come off when it is healed.

Superglue, actually called cyanoacrylate (like Cigerette rolling papers get called Rizla's) was originally formulated by a Vietnam medical officer, to glue the GI's guts back in, when out in the Jungle. That's why it stick's skin to skin quite so well. So will work fine on most wounds.

You've got to watch what glue you use though, although all Cyanoacrylates will bond skin, some can cause irritation (in some cases severe) to the wound/skin so the dog will chew at it.

2-octyl-cyanoacrylate is the correct Human medical grade, you can only get this on prescription.

Easier to get is n-butyl cyanoacrylate. Sold for animal treatment only (works just as well on us though!) Try searching for Vetbond. Should be able to get it for about £10 for a smaal bottle.

A word of warning though, put it on Cotton wool or touch a wound dressing against it before it's set and it causes an Exothermic reaction (heats up bloody quick)and will burn you or the Dog.. Put enough on and the cotton will actually catch fire. The smoke is also Toxic so don't go playing with it to see what happens!!!

I hope this has helped a bit!

All the best with the dog.

Luke.
