Guest Gregg Barrow
Long story short. My wife and I picked up our ¾ cross at the airport last week. I will tell you that I went with my heart and a strong gut feeling on this one. I broke all my personal rules, rules I usually bore everyone with when they ask me how to go about selecting a puppy for performance work. I presented the breeder (who turned me down originally) with my list of requirements, made a few phone calls and rolled the dice. Last Thursday we arrived at the airport, went through a ton of paper work and opened the crate to a bold little girl who had been locked up for the better part of thirteen hours. She walked out like she owned the world, noticed, but didn’t react to all the tractor trailers rumbling by, grabbed the leash in defiance and played some tug of war, snagged and growled at our pant legs and has continued to be a wonderfully obnoxious and active little girl since her arrival. Biddable, bold and inquisitive. So far, she is retrieving to hand (her booda bone), takes all game (chicken, beef and the odd bit of buffalo) and is scaling obstacles with ease (Charlie and Sis, my Labs and Ben, our ninety eight pound Schutzhund III IPOIII Giant Schnauzer). Thank you C/G, she’s just as you described her. All the raw materials appear to be there, and if she can survive having me as her owner, she should fulfill her potential. Guest Gregg Barrow
Just wanted to thank everyone for the nice compliments. She's coming along nicely, no surprises and we are looking forward to having some fun training this winter. Right now......with the heat.....she said that she thinks that she's died and gone to Hel......Texas!! Feeling a John Wayne moment coming on. Really appreciate it. Gregg Quote Link to post
