snakes1989 1 Posted November 8, 2009 Report Share Posted November 8, 2009 hi im going ratting tommorrow with ma staffie and ma mates jr ,im totally knew to the ratting scene and really looking forward too tomoz i have permission at a small horse yard that is over run with rats i just have a few of qestions soo bare with me lol 1.i dont have a smoker and i dont intend on getting/or making one until i find out if my staf is any good lol is there any other way of flushing them out without the use of a smoker ? 2. my dog is upto date with all his boosters is there anything else i need to consider vac wise ? 3.is there any general hints n tips anyone would like to share with me because as i said im a ratting virgin lol many thanks snakes1989 Quote Link to post

GET THEM OUT (.)(.) 39 Posted November 8, 2009 Report Share Posted November 8, 2009 water, or if they are not to ground normally plenty of banging, and poking will move them, ive just got back from ratting, got about 25ish, also the farmer bought us the new rat attack smoker and paid us all lol, , i also took my stafford for his 1st ratting trip did just as good as any other dog there, atb, o yea try block any escape holes/runs that the rats look like they going to be heading, Quote Link to post

fensaluki 35 Posted November 12, 2009 Report Share Posted November 12, 2009 If your doing a horse yard fella dont forget to be thourough when it comes to the kick boards inside the stables.As the stabbles are usualy on hard concrete floors they cant get out underneath and only from the visable holes.A hosepipe or bucket of water straight in the top tends to bolt them and more often than not they will bolt into the stable giving an unexperianced dog a better crack at em.do these last as bolted rats that have escaped will often hide in the giving you another go at em.
