bull101 35 Posted November 9, 2009 Report Share Posted November 9, 2009 its not so much doubt him, im trying to make sense of it all, as his dogs pay the bills and he only lamps rats? and his dogs have had more work than 2 year old dogs, yet they are only 11months old and coming into their 1st season (and the season does not really kick out great sport till towards the end of the year........a lot of people on this site believe that a dog should not be entered to quarry that bites back till atleast its 2nd proven season, correct me if im wrong (i admit that i believe that if a dog is showing willingness then i will try it, even at 11months)......but these pups are geting worked almost every night and the only quarry he lamps is rats, no matter how good a dog, when dealing with quarry that bites back the dogs always ALWAYS get marked up after they have tackled a few! and with these dogs been young and dealing with rats on a very regular basis why is it that they look like they have not encountered much?? I just wondered how trainable they are? Or is it just a matter of point and slip? Would they work with ferrets and though I know you said you only lamp them, would you say that they had the potential to use their noses to make good all round mooching/bushing dogs? Just wondering. un intentionaly they have had the odd munty in the day whilst out for a walk they are very seldom on a lead .even when lamping they have been taught that since they could walk . I might be wrong but given this season to be brought on they should do a job on bigger game ? max there is no should about it ,the offer is open but it is so hard to get takers ,8 people on her have taken up the offer months ago ,and now most would like to own one ,but like i said they wont be for sale .
