just wandered if people decoy all year ?as im new to this and just gained 500 acres of newpermission i wanted to show my face ,but wandered if im wasting my time?

think you'll get mixed answers here, same as ferreting, from a pest control point of view, I'll ferret or shoot all year, but those doing either for sport, may say leave it in the summer

i will hunt all the way though the year mate it a hobbie a like doing i have just got me sgc about 3 month ago and a just been gettng 24 decoys only half shell ones on springs but hey im a new starter in shooting with a shotgun

I go for pigeons all year round - land owner likes it that way so if I don't show up regularly, someone else will.

Always worth a look, if you have any wooded roost areas then you are in for, in my opinion, the most fun form of pigeon shooting there is.

 

They will be on the rape in the next few weeks right through to spring.

Never any harm in getting out there, especially on a new permission, looking for flight lines, roosts etc etc.

Put the time in just observing if there are not many birds about and it will reward you in the long term.

I agree that roost shooting is fun but not till Feb unless there's no game shot on the land. A very quick way to loose permission is to piss off the local gamekeeper by stopping his birds going to roost.
