A trip up the dales

Recommended Posts

With my impending move abroad I went for a trip up north to take my collie cross for her last look at the Dales. The weather was forcast to be nasty and we weren't disappointed! After a short drive off road, which I'm sure to Pan.Handle was as easy as pie, but to me was like a white water ride :o we got the dogs out of the truck and headed off.

The dog was soon marking

which was a good sign. The wind was playing havoc with the dogs hearing and the rain was settled in for the day. We got a few bolters before BD Roughcoats white jill got a hammering underground. The ferrets we were using were all virgins to the game and were three jills from last years litter.

The dog took the inclement weather in her stride and it's at times like these you realise what their jackets are for

We were faring much worse though :D

Bolters were left when they went back to ground as it was our first trip out of the season, although we did have a few eventful digs :laughbounce2:

Despite the weather it was an excellent days hunting and me and the dog both enjoyed ourselves thoroughly.

To top it all off, there was a surprise going away party for me and my fiance in the pub that night!

Big thanks to BD Roughcoat and Pan.Handle for all their generosity, not just for this weekend, but for years now. You'll not find better lads anywhere. :notworthy:

Cheers Nobby.....I think the Magners didn't taste quite the same the second time though :drink: :11:

Mitch, what beer do you recommend over your way? I've had Tooheys New, VB, XXXX, Cascade, Crown and Coopers. Personally I like Coopers Red the best but it doesn't half get you fuzzy :D

I've got no permission left Molly....I gave most of it to Cupid.

There's still a bit of land that's good for a shine though. I might have a look out on that when it softens up a bit. The terriers are going nuts without any work

What he doesn't know won't hurt him

Only joking mate :clapper:

I thought you was still having a walk around the place?

They said you still have the main gate key because the first night we were on there we nearly got locked in  It was only because someone set an alarm off   that we found out & got a key to get out

Me? walking around the place?

I was walking the dogs over by that fox earth that I showed you and Paul under the grubbed out trees on that ash pile....just for old times sake like.

You tell them dozy buggers that I've never had the main gate key :11: They always said they'd get me one but never did. Have they got you a key to that gate down where those new apples have gone in? Where we saw that fox sunbathing? It's best to use that gate rather than the commercial unit gate as you can get in between the rabbits and the warrens. How's it going over there anyway? I hear geese going over and I get all itchy :11:

Hope you lads are having as much fun as I did. That was my little playground for a good few years.
