mubz2cool 4
My mate Mark Gilchrist from the sporting shooting mag invited me down to his permison to do a bit of Fallow stalking. On the way down i met up with another mate to chance a munty... i got mark up to come along as this would be our first muntac.. result.. less than 2 hours and 2 munjac in the bag. So after that we drove down to kent and got an early night... up bright and early next morning ariving at his grounds just after 6am... stalked a couple of fields but didnt see anything.. then about 150 yards away we saw a group of 5-6 fallow running accross the field... "quick get on your sticks" mark said.. they were not stopping so i shouted.. unlucky for this doe she had to stop and see what i was.. the 129 grain RWS (6.5x55) went her way.. neck shot . Gralloched her and draged her up the hill and left the carcas under a bush to come back for later. We stalked the next field and prity much the same thing happend again this time a doe and a follower... but i just could not get stedy.. was shaking like a f**ing leaf!! so i decided to leav them for another day. Walked back to the carcas and draged it back to the truck.. Mark said lets just look on the far top field... sure enough we glassed a massive fallow buck .. we stalked into him as he was laying down in the sun.. i got to 90 yards of him and he stood upp... on my sticks and now i had a serious case of buck feever!!!!!!! BANG clean misss! reloaded ... BANG... ANOTHER CLEAN MISSS!!!! we looked for about 1 and a half hours but no hair and no blood and no sighn of mr buck... Mark then said to me "i dont meen to rub it in but i think he was a medal!" it was a Long drive back up to cheshire.. oh well.. he will be there another time. Thanks for reading. Rifle used was my 6.5x55 tikka t3 hunter with a s&b scope and ase jet Z mod. Mo Quote Link to post

Murph 30
I told the mrs I recognised the bloke on the F word last night, did ramsay really make the follow up shot then? I do a bit of spearfishing and know the bloke who took him spearfishing a few series ago and he never shot any Bass at all, he was given them all befoe the camera shot as he couldn't hit a barn if he was in it with a speargun. Totally different skill to using a rifle though... Quote Link to post
mubz2cool 4
hi mate. ye he did actualy take the folow up shot.. to be honist on the range he was quite good... he was just a bit low on his first shot.. anyway the main thig is he dispatched it quickly with the second shot.. all the best. Fair play to him then, he's gone up in my estimation. As you say, a quick follow up was the most important thing but it's nice to know he took responsibility and followed the process through himself.
