bullcross1 10 Posted November 4, 2009 Report Share Posted November 4, 2009 hi folk, im just after peoples opinions who have had a toe removed on there own dogs or have seen dogs run with missing toes, ive had lurchers with toes missing on back feet before and they never had much trouble. Ive heard a few different views off lads i hunt with and its pritty mixed some say dont get it chopped and some say do. cheers for any replies chaps Quote Link to post

My close friend has a bull x with a toe of each foot on the front and to be honest she is spot on never been any more problems. Whatever you choose good luck mate. Quote Link to post

dennned 172 Posted November 4, 2009 Report Share Posted November 4, 2009 never a good idea removing an inside toe, for obvious reasons, it puts much more pressure on the free flowing toe,which in no time will inevitably break, i know it's hard to accept it, but sometimes we have to, this dogs hunting days are numbered, rest it till it's ok , hopefully it will be sorted , but running on rock hard ground will cause more damage i think than running on soft ground-----atb--den ps, keep us informed of it's progress Quote Link to post

mongoose 39 Posted November 4, 2009 Report Share Posted November 4, 2009 I had a dog which had to have a middle toe off on the front, it didn,t make any difference to him, If the problem is at the front of the toe the vets can leave a bit of the toe as some surport for the other toes....
