Open ticket question

When I had my original visit from the FEO I was told that I needed to wait five years to apply for my open ticket. Although they did hint that gaining my DSC1 would "speed things up" Is there a set time limit and if not what are the factors involved ?

i dont know how to speed up the process but for me i think having a

closed ticket in the first place is a joke.

 

When i first recieved my FAC when i was 17 (12 years ago) for a

.22 and 22-250 it was "open" to be used on any land i had permission on.

 

If the FEO dont think we have the sense to make our own minds

up whether the land is suitable for whatever calibre we may

posess seems ludacris to me.

 

Anyway just my opinion.

thats the norm north of the border im afraid. i guess its because of the remote countryside there. the land is so hilly lets face it it isnt going to not pass for some sort of high caliber.

I got mine opened after a year. Now have all the rifles in my signature open, but back then it was the .22, .17HMR and 6.5x55. If you can support your need to have it open you should get it. Just wanting it before the five years is up may not be enough. I was told I needed at least five permissions to show that I had a lot of places to go to. I provided them and my FAC was returned open. As always though it's down to the force you are under. They all have different ideas which is annoying!

My FAC was opened up after 6 weeks, this was for a .22lr, 22-250 and 270!!

I was told a minimum of three years for Cornwall but I may have to revise the position after seeing this thread. I think a few calls may be in order as it is annoying but understandable for a newly acquired fac like mine.

There are no "rules" on this as you can see from everything above, build your case and put it as forcefully and reasonably as possible, and keep your fingers crossed!!

I think that its daft this closed cert business. As mentioned before, you are either trustworthy or not? The FEO isn't going to be stood next to you, making sure that you aren't pointing it towards the farmers house on the other side iof the hedge, when you squeeze that shot off.

 

Still, just another hoop that we have to jump through, no sense in rocking the boat I suppose, just irritating. lol
