steve0146 0
Hi, I have just been luckily enough to get permission on 4 miles of tidal river bank. The river is massive about 1/4 mile across. The edge is open mud flat with a very small piece of marsh. I have looked it over during the day and it seems barren. There must be ducks using it. Where to start?
rjimmer 4
Is it privately owned foreshore then?
steve0146 0
Is it privately owned foreshore then? Yeah it's privately owned foreshore. The fields by the river are out of bounds so it leaves the mud flats and the small bit of marsh.

Get out there tonight in the moonlight and listen.
Hurlock 114
Even if they're not stopping to feed, you could no doubt intercept them flighting up and down in morning and evening mate. Hurlock
Redleg22 2
Really only one way to find out Steve. Observation. Get out there at dawn and dusk and watch what the ducks do. Once you discover the flightlines, work out the best place to intercept them. Bends in the river are usually a good place to start. If the river is not too fast (if its tidal then there will certainly be periods of slack water) then try putting out some decoys.
