A dog for your head and a dog for your heart

Recommended Posts

Ive been told one of my lurchers has too much heart :icon_eek: .... is that possible? im not sure, as i wouldnt change it... Hes brainy, and usually biddable enough, but when working/hunting/lamping(rabbits) he is almost insane... proper heart in mouth job... always uses every available scrap of power/brain/speed that is possible, and usually brings home the bacon so to speak!.... A friend calls him 'the gymnast' as hes good at cartwheels, jumping (usually chasing a bunny out of the field we were lamping in lol) and bouncing off stuff....I call him a real tryer, but, i know that he does this for his own ends, he cant help it, after all its a built-in feature, i simply 'let the dog see the rabbit', and he does the rest. But because of his total drive and determination to succeed with every hunt or slip, i have to be very careful where i run him... double fences, roads, quarries/crags, and earths, are often major worries, but (touch wood), he is surviving.. Is there a point at which too much heart becomes sheer recklessness?

well, im off out again before day break... happy hunting all
