leannelurcher 0
and yes maybes i am silly for getting a dog withc now i am having problems with but at least i am very openj and telling people my problems as most people hide the fact that they dog is not doing what it is suppose to be doign The dog is not doing what it's supposed to be doing because of lack of leadership and knowledge. That's not a dig at you. Dogs don't come out of a box knowing what they're 'supposed' to do. If YOU don't know what you're doing get a trainer to teach YOU to teach the dog since i got bailey i have bust my guts every moring walking him and everynight and one to one even up to 3 hours a day my fella has the kids while i spend time with bailey so its not like i am not teachng him things .it now seems like the kitchen is hes grounds and only i can go in .whne people se him when out walkign they say nice dog but dont see what hes like in doors .and the more people in my family telling me im a failure and to get rid of him the more determid i get to keep him we have a big back yard for bailey to be in .i also take him on a feild were he can run .i will always be this dogs owner nothing is going to change that so if i nip it in the bud now then in the future i migth have a good relishiop with my dog i have 3 kids and a 5 month old dog i am trying my best to give this dog a happy life with my family

NO dog should show aggression toward its owner and especially where there's children involved. This should have been nipped in the bud the 1st time it happend. Time to bite the bullet the dog has to go!
UNFIT 0
Let me be brutally honest with you Leanne, find the dog a good permanent home with someone who has a clue because you are clearly not cut out for dogs and not all the ticket! Get a budgie! And I mean all this in the nicest possible way.

lurchergrrl 1,441
i have 3 kids and a 5 month old dog i am trying my best to give this dog a happy life with my family I have three kids aged 5 and 4 years old and two dogs aged 2 years and 10 months respectively. If a five month old pup is giving you such a hard time there's no shame in saying you can't do it. You've had loads of advice in other threads and are still stuggling terribly. And might I point out struggling with a five month old PUP! It's a lot of work having a pup and kids. And you've got a fella to help out as well! Mine doesn't live with me and I do it all on my own. But I have a lot of experience and when I need help I ask knowledgable people for it. Seriously Leanne if you're going through all this with a wee five month old pup you have to ask yourself if you're equipped to cope. I think maybe you're not. If you allow things to continue this way you're going to have a big dog causing bigger problems. But good luck with it anyway.
GET THEM OUT (.)(.) 39
if he only 5 month of age thats abit worrying tbh, make sure you pull him up for everything he does wrong, dont tel him off then let him get away with it until he pisses you off again, make sure you practise what you preach, try get into a routine, personnaly he soundls like he doing it for attention, well the next time he does give him the attention he dont want, make his bones rattle, give him a good clip, and put him straight outside were he cant get attention from anyone, or anything, i,e toys, theres plenty of things that i think will make the dog come right but il get pulled up for it on hear so going to keep quite, atb
sweeper1gg 4
best way to stop him pulling is walk him at your side when he pulls pull him side ways it takes them of balance also try to keep less tension on the lead keep it slack just try it for an hour solid every day for a week i bet it works. 6pack 60
Would love to see what aggression you think this pup is showing at just 5 months of age. The mind boggles. And PTS suggestions - you guys crack me up. And if all else fails, smack it one!! Love it. Unfortunately too far away to offer help, but you need some before you totally ruin his future in every way. You say you are doing your best, which is obviously failing. If you want to do right by him, get help from someone who can come to your home and see the problems, or re home to someone that knows what they are doing.

undisputed 1,664
Some folk missing the point here this is not about lead training....any aggression toward people is a no no as far as lurchers go

Breaking a dog to a lead isn't rocket science , but an agressive outburst concerns me some.
