sounder 9
well as above the rain never stopped all night and most of today here, but at about 3.30 it brighten up abit and dryed up, so i said i get the dog out for a walk, called jnr ask him did he want to go, yes like always off he came, i only loaded up my bullx and the waterford dog (a patterdale) and drove up the road to a place that handy walk, it's a byroad that goes up about a half a mile way up in the hills, as we got to the top i cross over to try a nice earth on the side of a hill, jnr let waterford off the lead ,i already had him collored up, and as soon as he got to the first hole in he shot, i said to jnr this is hot !!! and told him to stay high on the hill above the holes i stayed low with the bull x, after about 3 or so minutes still no sound. and no sign of the terrier, i dug this earth alot over the years never deep and you always hear the dog sounding!!! but still nothing , then the like a switch turn on the dog was sounding in his odd voice more of a howl than a bark, as he does on a fox.in seconds i could hear the loud bolting from the earth, i had all the holes covered where i was well i taugh i had !!! up high up on the hill just under where jnr was standing out bolts a good fox with the waterford dog right behind him only feet from jnr, i slipped the dog up as the fox went up and across the hill the dog covered the fox fast, but as he went in for the kill the foxturn up the hill asthe dog fell upsidedown then the fox turn down the hill into a long bushy wall and away with him to run for another day, i ran the dog again in the earth just to make sure all was out, but i was like a c**t not for missing the fox but as i looked around there was the farmer that owns the land that i was in looking up at me and the fox got away the one time you like to get it !!! but still a good bolt for the terrier and jnr got a good look at the hunt of the fox, but it gas how the day you go out just for a walk you can end up with a great evening, atb sounder Quote Link to post
