yep, its like all the tackle tarts in the carping and now the barbel world. Half are only there to look better than the next guy. If you asked them to stalk a fish, they wouldnt have a clue!

correct.my tackle aint top notch stuff unlike all the other boys that fish the same water as me but to date,im yet not to win every pike match i enter :boogie:

a bit like in the shooting world,it aint the gun,its the man behind it :victory:

To true, to true. One off my best mates is big into Carping but he has never "Fished" proper in his life. He just reads it all in a book. Ask him to put a Stick float on or cast a fly he's bolaxed. He'll never have the pleasure of seeing that float dip, then go under 30 yards down the swim, to strike and feel the weight of the fish on the hook. Thats real fishing in my book.

a lean pike what time of year was it caught pal

start of jan this year scent, i know its very lean looking, so is this 26.5lb i took out of the same lake. not sure why they are long and lean rather than most doubles short with big belly's????????? im not certain myself i put it down to there diet. not sure though!!

caught my biggest pike about 5 years ago while mepps spinning for perch,didnt have any scales on me but it was a good fish.before then,my PB was 18lb,this fish was much bigger.the water i caught it on often produces high 20's and the odd 30lb fish.must be all the wild brownies the river holds.

yea it will be to do with the fishs diet, and the echosystem of the water..
