Welshbirds 0
I am now the proud owner of my first lurcher pup. she is 1/2 greyhound 1/4 whippet 1/4 collie.Any training tips would be appreciated as i've only trained gundogs so far! Hi Mate What a gorgeous looking animal My only tip is: what ever you do, dont let the missus poach eggs for her!! regards Welshbirds Quote Link to post
bird 9,973
I am now the proud owner of my first lurcher pup. she is 1/2 greyhound 1/4 whippet 1/4 collie.Any training tips would be appreciated as i've only trained gundogs so far! nice pup, and she should train ok no prob. But remember one thing to retrieve [does not] come natural to lurchers, like it does gundogs [labs, springers,]. Most lurchers will , but a few [wont] . Apart from that, most lurchers a quite clever and easy to train ,maybe not as hard [temp] as lab+springer , as alot can be sensitive. Quote Link to post

doga 50
If you have trained gundogs, you will have no trouble with a Lurcher !! LOL !! Best of luck with it ! Cheers. looks a belter,my advice to you mate would be not to train in the same manner as a gun dog, lurchers dont need to be so machanicle, the overly excessive commands sour a pup, should be a nice dog for you looks nice.atb doga.
