old fashioned types would be the best moochers , the allrounders of days gone by , pot filling dogs , hunting up rabbits and pheasants in daylight , lamping , foxing , the odd deer , soft mouthed on rabbits ,hard on fox. All points to collie cross lurchers , drovers dogs , smithfields , norfolks , call them what you like . . . And i dont mean modern peddlars lines , im talking about the dogs that were around way back when , before everyone diversified and bred for specific jobs. 28 to 30inch dh x gh will stop the real big stuff ,and they might pick up a few rabbits ,but all rounders they aint. Saluk x long dogs 4 out of 4 every day of the week and mostly will do a job but i dont think personally that dogs bred to be exceptional in one field will excell in every field. People breed for what they want 40 rabbits on the lamp 5 hares on the fens foxes all night long or big black sika stags , but years ago i think most if not all lurchers were all rounders . .mooching dogs

got a few a all round mooching dogs here had that type for along time , catch a phesi a rabb, pull a roe ,catch a hare got two proper poaching type curs but ones a saluk type the pther two good old collie types , you no when you have agood one the freezersa full and varied without to much effort ,had woodcock ducks phesis rabbs and when it was legall hares roe , the odd fox as there not many about localy , therse types of dogs are getting rae and so are the type of guys who like them im afrraid, i like adog you can walk awood out in the dark come to the end of it hees telling you there game left the wood you switch the beam on and there you go a hundred yards out there game , or when walking a rough field heel slo down mark a bush whall ahare rabbor phesi makes a move but to late its caught ,my type of dog ,
