S400 strikes again

Recommended Posts

anyway i get up this morning look out of the window and see this big yellow thing in the sky,not a branch moving in the tree across from me

so i pack the s400 in its bag grab some pellets an set of for my clubs outdoor range, thinking today is as good as anyday to zero a new scope.as a bonus i also have permission to shoot in the fields surounding it,i get to the range an as i open the gate all the little bloody grass munchers bolt off, i thought sod em i am here to zero not get my lunch :).so i sets up some targets at my preffered zero range of 35 yards, and start to zero my scope within a few shots im somewhere near an start to fine tune it, out of the corner of my eye i see the wabbits have started to come out again so i just carry on plinking and fine tuning the scope, after i stop for a coffee an a ciggie(filthy habbit i know), thought i might just have a walk round an see whats about, so off i go with mr 400 slung over my shoulder, climbing over the electric fence an walking towards the bushes an trees that mark the field bounderies. i see some sloe berries an thought Mmmmm i quite like sloe gin so out with the game bag an start picking them i get enough for the time being, an set off again to mooch about the fields, see one or two furry critters at way beyond what i would shoot them at an get a clean kill. so trying to sneak up on them is about the only option i get to just over 40 yards from one. an thinks thats one mil-dot up on my scope so i kneels down starts to raise the rifle an,the bloody tree hugger an his wife who live in the bungalow in the corner of my shoot let their ruddy dog out an start screaming murderer, WTF their dog shouldnt be in the field to begin with because of the sheep,so i shoot into the ground an get ready for the torrent of abuse that normaly follows. but i get none very strange i thought, so off i go int the next field nothing to be seen not supprised with the mutt about, so i thinks sod it i will go an do some more plinking an get this scope sorted in my head so i sits at the shooting bench an start to punch more holes in the targets, when as bold brass this little critter starts hopping across the plinking range an thought now sod this your history 35 yards phuttt thwack dead as dodo. so i carry on plinking getting further and further out at the steel plates, an stone me just at the 45 yard plate i see a pair of ears twitching so i levels the crosshairs about 1.5 mil-dots an thinks if it comes from behind the plate its going to join its brother or cousin anyway it will be dead, it comes skipping from behind the plate an stops stares straight at me like i wasnt there an hops about 3 feet away from the plate head side ways on to me so phutt thwack one more coney sent to meet its maker or my stew pot more to the point. so seen as i left the first one where it dropped. i best go an get them both, one decent size an a smaller one but you would have thought with all the plinking that gets done at the range they would know to stay well clear of the metal things that go ding i think they had a death wish. well thats enough rabbit from me

Nice write up Riffraff,

You were lucky to have bunnies out on your zero range when your shooting.

thing is they dont usualy go any where near the zero range, so for 2 to do it in a space of 20 mins

i thought would be rude not shoot them :gunsmilie:
