I noticed that you have the shelves covered on the ferret nation. Did any of your ferrets get their tails caught on the space between the lip of the shelf?

When we had the nation one of our jills caught her tail until we covered it.

:clapper: @ missus comment....

Yeah she gets a tad flighty..... :o

quickly adds thick socks and her reeboks....

then shes ok.... :D

FFS...I sit here typing this in bare feet and Mel just races over my feet...

the cool brush of her fur is nice...bit warm here today...almost 30 deg :icon_eek:

Going to be a stinker of a summer i think looking at other parts of the world recently...

The Ferret Nation cages are brill....

I purposely added the blanket pieces to cover the plastic inners to make it easier to clean...

I wash them weekly in the machine.

Keeps everything nice & dry....

Think about it guys...

I used to use wood shavings when i had them outdoors...

The blanket system is great as it can be cleaned & you don't

have mega mess daily to sweep up or weekly etc....

Keep it simple....

The ferret adoption places ive been to advocate

a heavily painted floor of cage with no shavings....

Again its that much easier to maintain.

They also all have a litter tray system, rather than wire poop grids etc...

Read here just the other day of a guy who 'hoses ' his cage out...

Eventually it will lead to an infestation of Mites/Footrot from wet soaked wood

 & later this :wallbash: if it hits bad

Trust me i have been down this path a long long time ago....

Keep em dry & infections to their feet won't apply

Hence the blanket system...makes it easier...

My ferrets are desexed... and have less smell than a normal Jill..

Hobs when desexed and scent gland removed will still have a slightly stronger

odour than the Jills.

The kitty litter i use is a lavender scented mix and works very well.

I add a pair of fuzzy dice :tongue2: air freshners thingys i

get cheap at the local supermarket...

I have asked numerous friends when they come over if they can smell ferret  ?

Haven't had a 'man they stink response as yet'....

Thinking back to the days when i had them outside,

these were un desexed...they had a stronger smell when brought into the house.

Washing ferrets is something that isn't really going to eradicate their natural smell.

They may smell 'fresh' ...for about an hour, lol...

Then they smell the same, if anything they have a stronger odour, especially when

drying them

If you want to wash them, No need to do it any more than once a month.

In fact the more you wash them the stronger they will smell...

Cheers,

Shaun
