Mr_Logic 5
If your local RFD told you that, then go to an RFD who isn't a moron! Proof law for moderators - there isn't one. Proof law for rifles - grey area with regard to moderators and screw cutting. IF the rifle needs to be cut, then the RFD MAY make you have it proofed. This is definitely not a legal requirement if you aren't selling the rifle to anyone, and is arguable if you are. Either way, for a simple "I want to buy a moderator", proof law doesn't come into it. Only when you talk screw cutting a rifle does proofing come into the equation. If your rifle cut already? Quote Link to post
eddiej35 10
rifle is cut already ..his answer to sell me a mod was we need to send rifle to be proofed before we can sell the mod.. Edited October 28, 2009 by eddiej35 Quote Link to post
Mr_Logic 5
Then he's a muppet with no knowledge of the law. Suggest you head to an RFD that does know the law and will therefore not talk bollocks! Good luck Quote Link to post
quicksilver 0
rifle is cut already ..his answer to sell me a mod was we need to send rifle to be proofed before we can sell the mod.. as far as i know the only requirement from a RFD persepctive is to make sure that you have the mod listed on your FAC for that caliber. I recently had to get a rifle screw cut, i was advised to get it proofed etc but as i wanted it for bunnies asap i opted to not get it proofed at this stage, the RFD has no legal obligation to make sure that the rifle and mod are proofed. This is my undertanding and i may be wrong keith Quote Link to post

dicehorn 38
FWIW I would recommend a mod that is strippable - many mods are not and if you get a problem with them you cant take them to bits to find the fault or even clean them. I have a couple of Predator 8 s and they strip into 5 pieces with the added advantage that if you change calibres you can just buy the appropriate baffle for that calibre without having to buy a totally new mod.
