Deker 3,478
hi all, Just looking for a bit of advice . I have the choice of the above two. Money aside.. which one shall i go for? which one is the most accurate? Thanks, Mo. I struggle to see there will be anything much between them accuracy wise. What Calibre and what do you want to do with them? Neither would be my choice, but if pushed the Sako, but it gets personal and they are just not what I want, everyone selects a gun for a different reason, I doubt you will go wrong with either! Hope it works out for you! Quote Link to post

TOPPER 1,809
i have a mannlicher in 270 good rifle but i pref my savage 270 but thats just me as deker says it personal joice at the end of the day Quote Link to post
rjimmer 4
A chap went into a local gunshop and was looking through the stock of shotguns. "Which one should I buy?" He asked the bloke behind the counter. "Any one you like" Was the reply. "They're all better than you are" Not sure if that applies to rifles. I'm not sure about the Pro-Hunter, but my .308 SSG does not like high pressure rounds as far as I can tell, probably because the lugs are at the rear of the bolt. I used a box or RWS ammo once, and the bold jammed after every shot. If the Pro-Hunter bolt is the same as the SSG, beware of stoking up your homeloads too much. jamie g 17
i would have the sako everytime. better resale value to if you deside to sell in future. and a good action if you ever wanted it rebarreled Quote Link to post
jordang 0
ive read a lot of reports on stock flex with prohunters - something to bear in mind if your fitting a bipod and mod Quote Link to post
Dan Newcombe 58
I have use a Pro Hunter in .243 and a Sako in .308 I would have the Sako every time. The Mannlicher stock is, in my opinion rubbish and far to flexible. I im much more confident that the barrel is clear of the stock in the Sako Having said that the Pro Hunter is a very accurate rifle as well. Maybe bedding would help but spending that sort of money i would not want to have to modify it! Quote Link to post
Sako.243 1
Had my Sako 75 Stainless Synthetic in .243 carrying a 8x56 SB and a P.E.S Mod for about 6 years, Killed 100's of Roe and Fox, Few Red Hinds also and has never missed a beat. Great rifle IMHO!! I generally shoot 90grn Sako Game heads which work great through this rifle.... Quote Link to post
AB TAC 0
As far as I remember you can not re-barrel Mannlichers, but to be honest I wouldn't have the Sako either, as i hear many have very short barrel life, like 1100 rounds and that's your lot, no idea why, maybe some of the other guys can fill us in on that one. collieman 45
shot alot of deer with the sako 75 excellent rifle then got a 85 lot of crap would not group and to cap it the trigger adjusted itself overtime to ahair trigger but it had been fitted with a moderator definately overpriced Quote Link to post
SNAP SHOT 194
Off the two i'd PERSONALLY perfer the sako 85, IN stainless lol both will be accurate but resale value i feel would be better in the 85 also have a good action if you ever want to go the custom route... I've read of issues of stock flex in the pro hunters, the 85 Is a little lighter if your hill stalking but thats neither here nor there, As i carry around a 13lb gun myself.... Your money, your personal choice.... good luck with whichever you choose.. Snap. Quote Link to post
