Hunting up

Recommended Posts

The dog hasnt clicked properly to the lamp yet, it can be cured, get him clued up on the lamp get him easy kills, he will click.

does he let the dog hunt up through the day mabe this the problem pal

Sometimes the dog hunts up during the day usually if the rabbits are thin on the ground If we are just mooching with other dogs his recall isn't to bad he just seems to gets excited and does his own thing

The owner has had a change of job and works away a couple of days a week and his missus looks after the dog so its not getting the work it needs

An intelligent dog should learn the difference between hunting up dayday time mouching, Ferreting, lamping and hunting up at night on moonlight nights.

Just keep getting it out out let it learn that getting back to you means more rabbits and catches.

I'm sure that if thicko Salukis can do it any dog should be able to? ;)

Hi mate it can be cured.Had a Three year bitch in 95 that had only done daytime work.Took it out on the lamp.It was a three/ four month nightmare.I could be standing five feet from a clamper.Slip the dog and it would run to the nearest tree line. The dog came good in the end.But it was hard graft .You just have to keep at it.atb. Catcher

why not get a dog and start new,no bad habbits or some one elses rubbish.get it right to start with not the other way round,i cant under stand why folk dont put them together right before entering.sure your going to have to polish them off when in the field but the initial training will shine through if done correctly.
