at this moment in time we'd be lucky to make the vauxhall conference....couple of other points you bang on about it being a two horse race up here who outside the top 4 teams in the premiership will win it consistantly year after year. Our football is shite due to a lot of things...the nintendo culture lack of investment lack of facilities and lack of tv money and lack of desire. and the likes of Everton arn't doing very well in europe or against your arsenals and they're supposedly a top 5 team. If the old firm had access to the money the premiership clubs get it would be a different story. ;)

Go on mate as i have said football is not my strong point Left a few dates no reply 1938.1946.1953 Go on give it a go atb Catcher

1938

The 50th anniversary of Celtic's history

Celtic crowned British champions at Ibrox!!! What an irony, and a real GIRUY!

1946

Semi-final replay after 0-0 draw in first game of Victory Cup competition

A controversial replay which saw Rangers get loads of favours and trouble led to fines/suspensions for Celtic players and the club.

1953

won the coronation cup

Nope, never said the players compare for individual quality.

Would Celtic and Rangers attract players of the quality you mentioned ? absolutely.

Could they afford them, yes.

Would any of those players want to play at stadiums like Ibrox and Celtic Park in front of a full house, probably.

Did Scottish football attract the best manager in England at the time, Martin O'Neil, yes.

and when was martin o'neil the best manager in england  i must of missed that :clapper:

i notice in the paper today that the top man of english football said scottish should play in the scottish league so does that make welsh teams should play in the welsh league doesn't make sense to me i think there scared incase we do something in your league cause we have 50 & 60 thousand supporters who could attend each game not many teams can top that in the premiership and we could attract big players if we played premiership no problem take all the foreigners out of your league and your league would be nothing this is what makes you league

Its all very well you scots going on about lack of money and foreign players in england etc etc........but the harsh reality is scotland are just not producing quality footballers anymore.........and you cant blame money or the english for that !...there was no more money than there is now in scottish football 10/20/30 years ago but you still produced quality players.......i think its a shame myself ,the england - scotland fixture was one of the great british annual sporting events.......it wouldnt even be a competetive fixture if it was still played today.

Yes but you could say that about leeds, forest, leyton orient.....any number of clubs ( as has been proved with little clubs like chelsea and man city ;) ).....the difference is the old firm clubs are just not producing the quality of player, which ultimately lower league football all comes down to...........the ONLY thing that puts celtic and rangers on premier league level is their following/support.....thats why its a shame they are so far behind on the pitch.

I personally think if sky want them to join then they'll get in. At the end of the day its all down to money. if we join the english leagues then I think with in 6 years we would be in the top 6. we have the supporters we just don't get enough competitive football up here to attract good foriegn players.

now gnasher I think you have not mentioned the best player to come out of scotland in a long time. Kirk Broadfoot :clapper:

no no big davie is still there holding it tight at the back.

just curious about what team you followed. there's not much I would disagree with you on this forum. your views on things are usually similar to mine but this shite about the old firm not coping in england is just that. SHITE! :victory:

I meant at international level with weir.....as regards the old firm mob its only my opinion and i might be wrong.....but i think its generally accepted that they are not premier league material at this moment......

Also, its all very well saying they dont have the money to attract top foreign players....but look at the most succesful english teams....liverpool,man utd and chelsea......the spine of their teams has always been based on top ENGLISH players ....gerrard/carragher......scholes/ferdinand.....lampard/terry....

I dont think thats coincidence myself, the balance has to be right...in my opinion thats why arsenal dont have success they are a foreign team playing english football !....hence i say again, the jocks need to bring through home grown quality if they are to be on the same level as top 6 english premier league......but i might be talking shit your right....anyway im off,all the best

someof you english are arogent fuckers :clapper: anyway a football club is nothing without the support of the fans and money they make of the fans. Can any of you lads name me a club in the premier league other than Liverpool and man utd with bigger suport than celtic and rangers on this island or around the world. IMO celtic and rangers would struggle with the players they have now in the English premier league but would do well in the lower leagues where they would be expected to start. after a few years they will probably be in the position to buy better players and progress just like any other team. celtic and rangers in the premier league will attract the biggest players in the world. These two clubs are massive all around the world and i believe they could survive in the premier league but not with these players and definitely not with these current owners of both sides.

everton have qalifired fot the knock out stage get you facts right , scots football has all ways been shite thats why dalglish, nicholis , etc etc all came south , if ever they let the big two of scotland in they would have to come in thru the back door , id let them enter the FA cup then we would see how good the old firm were. my guess would be not that good, all the ad money comes to the prem because its the top league ,all you jocks support an english team as your second team were as we could not give a flying fooook what happens up there execept when you dont qalifi for the world cup ;) Edited by gonetoearth
