Its no consolation Dodger,.but,.I'm pleased to see and hear so many genuine words from lurcher enthusiast regarding your loss. Such an action gives me hope for the future of lurcher work...

Many of us have lost running dogs,..but very few have been able to share our grief with others.

I've lost a LOT of lurcher dogs...It happens. Only a post mortem will reveal the truth regarding your pal's demise,..personally,.I'd let it lie.. I'm no terrier man (far too soft),.but I've been privileged to know some of the legendary characters in that dangerous world,.and to a man they all tell me that when such things occur,.it is best to 'move on',.. Walk on mate,.remember your pup,.you ain't the first and my god,.you sure as hell won't be the last. Better to of lived the life of a Tiger ,.even for a short while

Been ther myself mate and feel for you. Lost a bitch when I was in Canada. She ran after a rabbit in the garden and let out a howl and keeled over stone dead. Had a post mortem done as I was convinced something untoward happened but the vet said its common in certain breeds. What they found was the heart had imploded in on itself resulting in instant death. Happens in very fit animals. Was tragic mate as she hadnt reached 2 and was a very very promising dog. Listen to the majority of advice. You have good memories and you given a dog a good home. Take care.
