IanB 0
Down to your own personal choice, I'd just leave them if it was me....size of your setup should be able to hold em all though ... Never lined my jills for the last 2-3 year, and they don't come to no harm...always kept the cages very clean during when there in heat, and cleaned them as needed...decided to line them this year though, get a couple of young uns in... IanB 0
Yes paddy....I always do it, I just leave them, no hobs near them...they never come to any harm, I've never had one die yet...I just make sure the cage is very clean...whilst they are in season, and clean them if they need it to prevent any infection... I just mate them every two or three year instead.. Quote Link to post

sash 2
is been a while since this was posted, just wondering how many do you have left, and which option did you go for? Quote Link to post
Guest Keeps
Well so far there are only two which are doing very well and growing. There are two big boxes in for them but all ferrets are in together. They all seem to prefer to share the same box, but have moved the kits from one box to the other, not sure why Three are still pregnant, or I think they are, had a quick peek in this morning and I couldn't see any new kits, could hear plenty of squeaking though. In fact the jill who has given birth seems to want the others with her, she keeps dragging them back in the box. So at the moment, I'm going to continue leaving them together and see how it goes they do seem to get along very well If there are any problems, I have a spare hutch so can shift them about a bit. Fingers x they only have 2 each but I don't think thats going to be the case, some of them are very fat Quote Link to post
Guest chilli
my jills were ok together at one point they were both suklin the babies it was the hob who caused the probs Quote Link to post
Guest Keeps
Hob seems to be fine at the moment Chilli, he's a gentle friendly little chappie, will see how he gets on before I banish him to live in a hutch on his own, poor lad. Quote Link to post

MikeTheDog 153
Years back I had three litters at the same time, well each litter was a week apart, al three mums nested together. When the third litter was born there was an obvious difference in size from the first litter to the third, after a day the last litter disappeared!….Did each ferret think all kits were their own and realised there were too many to feed or did they think the last litter were runts and unlikely to survive and did a natural cull?…Who knows but the outcome was handy. If you get inundated with kit’s keeps perhaps you should consider thinning the nest box out Quote Link to post
