stealthy1 3,964
I feed mine evey night regardless of going out the next day, or they wont have the energy to run warrens, I also feed mine a tiny bit of food a couple of hours before I go out, even if its only a cube of rabbit, it wont take the edge off there drive to hunt, but may well stop them from sitting on a kill and keep them moving, works for me Edited to say good luck, just enjoy your day out Edited October 26, 2009 by stealthy1 Quote Link to post
Richie10 345
Always feed the ferrets so you don't get the lay ups. Quote Link to post

Guest lavyheed
Good luck with the day out mate, hope you get a nice haul Quote Link to post
muddy 6
Good luck mate. I hope you have a great day. I feed my ferrets the night before. Any ferret, given the chance, will kill a rabbit if it's hungry or not. As already said a well fed ferret is less likely to lay up. I also take the water bottle off their hutch with me so they can have a drink. Even if its cold out, it's still dry and dusty down the warren. Quote Link to post
John-B 4
Do you reckon he slept very well last night??? Quote Link to post
turk88 6
right guys i finally manage 2 get out 4 the 1st time, unfortuantly was a day late, but i managed to bag 2. got there about 7:30ish, walked to the other end the field, netted the 1st warren was only 6 hole big, put me jill down for the 1st time, 15mins went by, and got the 1st bolt, was we pleased but as i ran over to get the bunny i must ran to slow or the net was not set properly cos it managed to shake loose and get out left it another half hour or so but nothing more came. so of to the next warren, netted up as you do, turned out we ended up puttin 19 nets down, put the jill down agian about half hour 40 mins went by she went the whole lent of the warren must been 7ft wide but good 20-30ft wide, and nothing, so i put her back in but up the far end in a corner, waited 10mins, said to me mate that went she pops back up we'll knock it on the head and move up, just before she popped up i noticed a peg and string running in to a hole, pulled on it and there was a bunnin in the net, none of us heard or see nothing, so that was a long 1 but got 1 in the bag. smiles started to apper all round. on to the 3rd warren only 5 or 6 hole big again, this time was the hob that went down, after 10mins he bolted one and this time i was ready, so thats 2 in the bag, he then bolted another, but this 1 came to the openin and stop and went back in, and so did the fert, 20-25mins later he appeard, i think he may kill this 1 in the hole to to sure, the was no blood on him, but still no bolt, we waited 30mins more and moved on on 2 number 4 and this was another big 1 wasn't sure if it was 1 big one, or if it was 2 or 3 small 1's so i fought might aswell net up what we can better be safe then sorry. only problem was about 4 or 5 holes was in accesable, unless i went threw the thorn bush. but i wasn't up for that today, 2 was enough 4 there 1st time at this stage, after puttin the jill back down after her rest was only there about 10mins, and the only hole in the open that i missed there was a bolt, so now i was annoyed with me self, but at least i walked away with 2 rabbits, not bad for a 5 1/2 month hob and 4 1/2 month jill, 1 each was over moon with that, cant wait to get back out there sunday, i'm hopin to get pics up later.
