bunny bashing last night

Recommended Posts

Had a look out last night with my dog Jet and daggys pup Ace.

I took my girlfriends 8yr old son out for his first glimpse of working dogs.

This time last year my g/f was set against takin the kids lamping.

Before we hit the first field, the boy was twineing of a headache so a told him its just the cold, and it will go away when he warms up.

Anyway the first slips seen Jet taking 4 out of 5. Now it was Ace's turn.

I spotted a bunny and told daggy to walk down until the dog "see's" it. Which he did. The dog was soon on the rabbits tail, and the speed of the dog impressed me. Ace soon scooped up the bunny on the straight.

Ace did quite well following the lamp etc... Even when coming back from a run, and i put the lamp on another rabbit. Something which i have only really done in the past year with my own dogs.

Anyway, we had to cut the night short, as the wind was about 40mph and now & then i had to keep hold of the boy as he was being blown about.

We ended with only 11 rabbits

Good crack mate, reminds me of me taking my lad out for the first time 20 odd years ago, I took him down the back fields and through the graveyard, as we walked through it, i felt his hand slipping into mine, poor little bugger was crapping himself, wasnt long until he was lamping it himself. Now not interested football, beer and women have took over.
