Working Terrier Clubs

Recommended Posts

I've always been a lone hunter until I met my partner in grime Thurso Jack, I was wondering what goes on at a working terrier club, do they go out hunting or just talk about, I would imagine theres some beer drinking, apart from that whats the benefits of being in a club? :guitar:

They dont all go hunting together mate... most clubs have emergency funds available and they also have insurance and stuff like that.

some decent clubs have legal cover that will fight you're corner if you should be caught diggin ect and as you say its a good social activity with like minded people

The main purpose of the clubs is to offer a rescue service to its members, promote responsible terrierwork, hold shows and allow likeminded people the chance to meet.

My club is Rother Valley, they offer a rescue service, hold an excellent show and recently held a talk by Harry Millward and Geoffrey Burnhill, at 5 quid a year i'm sure you will agree that its excellent value :guitar:

"Working terrier clubs" (in belgium, Germany and the netherlands)) bring back bad memory's to me, of people who steal my dogs, take away my hunting places, and other nasty and jealous behaviour.

No thanks, I will hunt on my one or with a couple good friends that I choose myself. And when my terriers need a rescue, I phone my boss for a couple days of, and deal with the problem!

Its not all bad news though,if your the head of such a club you could perhaps use your position to get hold of tickets to various shows and country fairs across the country, then give them to your mates and tell the rest of your members that you never had any tickets in the first place ;)

But that would be dishonest and go against the club rules and so thankfully never happens :guitar: (i wish the guitar player was a fiddler,it would serve its purpose better)
