BUYING A TERRIER PUP

Recommended Posts

HAVE YOU EVER BOUGHT A DOG OR PUP OFF THIS SITE OR ANY OTHER WWW.

if you have how did it work out for you. did the pup/dog go on to do what was promised or was you dissapointed.

i have three terriers that came off of the www. and one lurcher. all have been as good as i was told they would be and the lurcher was exactly what was said on the tin.

what are your experiences ?

it goes without saying no names no pack drill ;)

I bought pups 3 times and all of them are as good as I waited.

I'm lucky.

I got my bitch through a lad on here which I am quite pleased with, that was 2 1/2 year ago. Some issues with the breeding have come to light but that's not the lad on here's fault he's just a middle man. The bitch does a job, could be more to do with me than her why she's had her off days.

I did try and find another terrier for me and my mate a couple of months ago and trawled the pages of the terrier section from years ago to find out who was still on from back then, i looked at what people had posted and made a decision to contact them explaining my situation and a little about myself and done some research with those lads in the know that i already speak to. Got replies and reports back, made a good friend out of it and had the pleasure of going down to his place, made more than welcome and having a days digging with an invite for getting down again anytime.

The adverts I seen for pups that i half fancied and made enquiries about came to nothing and the answers I got from the questions i asked made me decide to leave it. Had that been 3 year ago I wouldn't have had the knowledge, contacts and little experience to swerve them and would have probably dived in.

I did end up getting a pup for free sent over from Eire by a lad on here.

My advice is ask, ask and ask some more to get the answers you want. Research is the way forward and dont rush into things. Patience is the key ;)

you can be job specific if you like mate. its just something that followed on from another post. and i wondered how folk had got on with the stuff they had bought off the www. i was thinking of earthdogs mainly. but all imput would be interesting. i maintain that there is good stuff out there. but care and patience should be used. to try and avoid.

bring paired with an unsuitable dog :D very good advice from stevo there :clapper:

IMO Think you've got to be very carefull. Unless you know or know of breeder because some will tell a pack of lies just to sell.

Too many people making a living breeding litter after litter out of young untried bitches. Some even the their 1st season!!! JMO
