leaving as you found it

Recommended Posts

im new to this so bear with me.i just wanted to get the opinion of other like minded hunting folk.something that i seem to come across on a regular basis is burrows or dens that have been dug left open and not backfill or tidying up of the area.

this to me is outragous and cannot understand why some person who have dug it in the first place cannot leave things as they found them.ive met met so many farmers that were so pissed off at the way there land was left.

come lads its not a hard thing to do,its important to keep farmers on our side because if it wasnt for them we would have no sport and secondly foxes are not going to use them again if they are destroyed.when i was starting my trade i was always shown that it is just as important back filling as it is digging.has anyone else come across this sort of ignorance?

Backfilling is the job everyone hates but it's one of the most important aspects of terrierwork.

Some lads do try their best by putting sticks or branches across the hole and cover these with the sods and clay. When they walk away it looks like they've done a good job but when it sinks it's bad.

Good earths when minded will provide game for many years.

Sadly there are folk who'll walk away from a dig without backfilling and these almost certainly have no permission or a clue what they're at.

There is nothing worse than when u go to check an earth and find the dig left opened and the earth ruined. :realmad: The low lifes that do this are real scum, they have no respect for the land or our sport and do serious harm to genuine terriermen. They should be made dig a hole, be dropped inside there and BACKFILL over the f**kers!!

one of the first things we were shown was how to back fill right and were always told how back filling correctly was the most important aspects of terrier work, if you aint prepared to fill it dont dig it, those that leave them open are'nt true fieldsport enthusists and have no respect for there quarry or the land they work they're just blood sport scum giving genuine hunting men a bad name you get them in all aspects of fieldsports part timers who are'nt in it for the long haul to us its a way of life to them its a game then they get bored and move on to something else. dosent matter were, if we dig a hole weather it be 2 foot or 6 foot light or dark we dont leave till the holes filled right, thats how it is thats how it should be.
