stubby 175
I would have put a single fert back down, hoping she'd return to the rabbit, get a location with the finder and start digging, even if the fert popped out again, it may have been a rabbit in a dead end with more behind it , have had four rabbits in this situation myself, plus not a lover of leaving an injured or dead rabbit Quote Link to post
stealthy1 3,964
I would put my jill back in and see if I can get the rabbit dug to, time to use the locator to find the kill Quote Link to post

Guest RN-Rabbit-Control
thats it mate this is were the locator comes in handy there was a big write up few days ago "do i need a locater" surely this answers the question The answer must be NO! Because there are still people like Quixote and Maltenby who tell all newcomers that locators are superfluous, and if you are "SAVVY" you would be better off spending your money down the pub. Leeview 791
hi went out today set around 30 nets put my two jill in with in 5 min ...herd a rabbit sqweeq ... so i gave it ten .. one poped up driping with blood .. so i boxed her up then my polly poped up with blood on her ... what do you do?????? move set or keep working the set with the kill inn I'd of carried on with the set both jills in, but I'd also have had a couple more in a set of that size and would of had them all collared up in case of the scenario you've described. Plus side to it is your ferrets have more than likely killed one or more rabbits but they came away and did nt lie up with the kill, ADVICE from the majority myself included use locators or listen to 1 or 2 that dont use them at the end of the day its your choice Y.I.S Leeview Quote Link to post
grdavison 0
get a locator mate saves time and you could of had the rabbit out with only a small dig (hopefully)!! also could of been few more behind it - ive had 6 before atb Gary Quote Link to post
fletch 0
over hear in ozz not meny people use locators ,i have been ferreting for 20 years and lost 3 i think snakes got them,if thay kill one in the hole they keep huntting till they cant find any more Quote Link to post
The one 8,479
The minute you heard the squeal i would of had the box out and stuck a mark a twig etc where the ferrets where .And after i put them back in i would have dug there if they stopped below where i'd marked as i reckon the rabbit would be there Quote Link to post
stubby 175
I always wave the locator about, you can tell by the LED's weather the ferts are moving or not, as already suggested, if you get a stationary mark, put a twig there, then if later ferts come up blooded, it gives you a place to dig, Quote Link to post
