Well just won a Deben Mark 2 ferret finder with collar for £100 of flebay (think I got a good deal, comes with all new batterys). I can start working my ferrets at work after the 1st of November. I will try and get one of the lads to bring his camera and see how my guys get on with there first day out. I have also just finished making my own purse nets and hope to buggery they don't let me down. Anything I need to be careful of (this will my first time out with my ferrets).

Cheers

Rob

P.S Please be gentle with me :D:D:icon_redface::icon_redface:

make sure you put the collar on tight enough. that could be the most important thing to do mate also try putting it on your ferret every now and then cause they cant half wiggle about the first few times it goes on. also im sure you would have done this the first day your finder arrived but get someone to hide the collar and try to find it just so you can get use to it. best of luck to ya mate

Can't fault the advice above about practicing with the locator because if it is a mk2 you will need some practice to interperet the signals .

As above also;get your ferret used to wearing the collar while it is still in the cage and make any extra holes in the collar for tightening NOW not when you are in the field !

That's why collars get lost.

Thank you for the responses, I will be doing all that was said. Will practice with the finder before I go out. I will give the MK2 a try to see how I get on( couldn't quite stretch to a MK3 this close to Xmas). Im not sure if its overkill but i will buy some more batterys and make sure everything works. Am really looking forward to this. Once again cheers :D

Ok so now im feeling like a bit of a plum again, could someone please tell me if this is a mark 1 or 2 ferret finder. It said mark 2 on the ebay listing but its not the same as the mark 2 pictured in this thread. Hoping I haven't just wasted £100  but I was told I needed a 15ft finder? :icon_redface:post-41588-1256558262.jpg
