Fishslayer 10
nice pics mark, liked the one of Grendel, hope youve got a decent pair of boots for when your out and about How's your pack doing Tullfan? As you can see, I only recently joined this site. Fortunatley, Grendel got a nonvenomous snake that day. The good snakes greatly outnumber the bad ones. I've got a pair of Cabela's snake boots and shotshells for my 9mm. I rarely kill any snake. That diamondback was on a friend's ranch and his son's chihuahua-mixes were taking an unhealthy interest in it. Are you ever worried about your dogs getting bitten? Some serious looking snakes there. Yes, I do worry. Rattlesnake vaccinations are available from most of the vets but its expensive, not a guarantee that they won't die, there are a number of different rattlesnake species and populations with different venom characteristics and the vaccinations don't protect against the other venomous snakes (coral, copperhead and cottonmouth moccasin). Snake breaking, with a shock collar and de-fanged snake, works well but I've not been able to attend the few clinics offered in the area (usually run just before bird season). I just avoid going places where and when they might encouter a snake. I usually see only two or three venomous snakes every year but there are those that say that you step near five to ten that you don't see. I don't keep snakes as pets. The pics are just some of the wild snakes I've stumbled across the past couple years. Although, I stumbled across that rat snake in my kitchen! Cheers, Mark

Fishslayer 10
Common name for rat snakes is chicken snakes. They like eggs and chicks as much as rats. My brother caught this one in his hen house.

Aaron Proffitt 142
I'd rather spend an afternoon chewing broken glass than 5 minutes with-in 10 feet of a snake. I hate Mr. No-Shoulders.
