Trapper 0
Hello Do any of you collect the bands/rings or collars from the geese and ducks you shoot? I collect them (only have a few atm) and think its great becuase you have something to remember your hunt from, and they are something i'd never sell either. I worked in canada for a year and always kept my eye open for geese with collars on,and also rings ,but never saw any unfortunatly ,hopefully one day i'll get one from abroad. How many of you send in your rings details in to the BTO too see where they have been traveling. It'd be good too see some pics of your collections if you have any. Thanks

mj robson 8
I've had quite a few goose and duck rings over the years. The oldest goose had been rung for 14 years and was 3+ years old when ringed. The reports they send are very interesting. Cheers, Mark.

Des Cochrane 0
I have 36 rings and 14 neck collars. 2 ringed geese with consectutive numbers with neckcollars were shot on a field together mid nineties around Loch Leven area when I worked as a BASC guide for Alan Murray. The shooting party I had out at the time included Robin Scott editor of The Sporting Gun. He followed up with a 2 page article about this. Redleg22 2
I have collected about six goose rings over the years - all from pinkfooted geese. The shortest distance and time was a bird that had been ringed at Vane Farm one day and I shot it on the other side of Loch Leven the next day. Longest was a pink that had been ringed at Martin Mere 12 years before I shot it in East Lothian.
