shaddow 166
i ran there too and up around Dundee as i know some lads up there that keep dogs and yes they arent the best in them area they seem to be quite big hares around that area from what i seen . at the end of the day if any lads in Scotland that have good coursing dogs and want real recognition for there dogs they should venture south and have a match or 2 , it wouldnt do them any harm , if the Irish lads can come over and run fen land and other places to test there dogs it makes it a bit easier for the lads in scotland Quote Link to post
Thomsons dogs 37
yeah , but i live North cumbria and i have to drive good distance to get to decent land , so its only an extra hour driving time from Glasgow or Edinburgh.some good land around south of Edinburgh and ive also run round Lanarkshire too , also Stirling some decent land on the Stirling flats. i personally think its good to get your dog used to different types of land small or big fen land , at the end of the day its nice to have a dog you take and course hares anywhere dont you agree ??? what im tryin to say is you Scottish lads that have decent dog should be takin them further south to test them on different land , the lads from Wales reugular travel up to the fens so why not you lot ????? not been as far as on fen land coursing, but been in several places you mentioned shadow,,the fields we sometime run are like big padocks mate,,ha nothing like your big land way few obsticals then they no excuses for the dog... west lothian Stirling and yorkshire is equal distance from me and ive run a lot in the areas mentioned , but to be honest and truthful the hares a stronger in parts of yorkshire ive run , not sayin they shit in west Lothian or Stirling just not as good as further south probably cos they run to death further south JMOP. depends on where you run if the hares are well run,,you'll get a good race,,in the other hand ran a bit a land pre ban of course ,,killed 6 hares in half hour, said to my mate lets get to feck these hares have never seen or been raced by any dogs, the hares was shite.perth. west lothian daytime hardly see any longears thats walking miles almost every day but when do believe me they fit not much about here not seen a dog like you say going to bits that havent seen a dog then your dog will tally numbers up easy Quote Link to post

SCOTTY1 3
the law applies to every part of the country so Scotland no different from Englan , Dundee and Aberdeen just as hot as the fens , ive seen loads of stuff on news and internet about lads gettin done for hare coursing in them parts.just if there are some great dogs in scotland , be good to get them proven and tested properly DO T THINK THATS TOTALLY TRUE MATE IN ENGLAND YOU CAN GET DONE JUST FOR WALKING THE LAND WITH THE DOGS IF THEY SUSPECT YOU POACHING UP HERE THEY CAN LOCK YOU UP FOR IT BUT IF YOU TELL THEM YOU WERE WALKING YOUR DOG AND GOT NO HARES ON YOU OR IN VAN THEY HAVE TO LET YOU GO AGAIN. Guest C U JIMMY
just like to see some good dogs names that have proven them selfs from good lines and breeding and names of dogs bred from these match dogs or cup winners if anyone would like to add any cheers Hi there, I've had the pleasure of seeing first hand some fantastic coursing dogs over the years, Don Southard as had afew good dogs, seen a nice bitch which came from the north called Lucy, Kenny Hall as kept some good coursing dogs. Don Southard had a 3/4 greyhound x 1/4 saluki, it had fantastic early pace with the added bonus of being able to stay on it pray. Regarding good open land and strong hare's, I once went coursing north east of Hull, I think it was called Sunk Island, it was on the way to Spurn Point. Now this type of land was a proper tester, peat type of soil, a couple of long courses and we were carrying some of the dogs back to our motor's. Will try to remember some of the dogs names when matron as been around with my medication Enjoy your coursing lad's and lasses, I did, and have some lovely memories and made some smashing friends. Yours in Sport......... Old Jimmy Quote Link to post
inan 841
p winters judy robbed in the final of the callender cup pure classin my eyes . if any bodies got a copy of the dvd i would like to buy it as i have lost mine Why do you say she was robbed? Didnt they run out of light and agree to run another day? dont know wether they ran it another day inan but on that run i seen in the final the big dog ink had the advantage over the small bitch and the hare as it was run over heavy plough think it would have been a different out come if it had of been stubble or grass just my opinion Judy was a great bitch some preferred her brother, but Willie Tough said the bitch was better.I have seen some small dogs handle plough a lot better than big dogs, but to be honest Ink was lethal on plough.I have this course on video ,but cannot copy it at the moment ,if I resolve the problem I will do you a copy.
