harvey_09 0
Hi - we have a problem each year about this time with our little brown fury friends - soon as the winter comes on they come out of the fields behind the house looking for food and shelter. Often sufficient to just put poison such as Roban bait blocks (threaded on cooper wire - down the burrow) is quick and easy. This year not really seen any signs, but a neighbour saw one on his bird feeder - put out a cage trap - baited with 1/2 slice of toast and peanut butter - sure enough to two mornings on the trot a furry friend in the trap - quickly dispatched. Here's the problem - I've set the trap for the last couple of days to find it door down but nothing inside + toast gone. Its a mesh trap I use for Squirrels so reasonably big mesh. Could it be mice taking the bait as they pass in and out easily enough ? Quote Link to post
Squirrel_Basher 17,100
I recently caught a rat in a squirrel trap ,an adult no less ,only to see it get through the mesh as i picked the trap up for inspection .Recipe for trap shyness if ever there was one . Quote Link to post
