lurcher lass 9 Posted October 19, 2009 Report Share Posted October 19, 2009 recently due to very kind invitation i went over to ireland for a spot of deer stalking and fox hunting with privatly owned pack i loved it!! on our travels we met a fella who had a few coursing greyhounds,, a type of hound i hadn't seen before,, I have worked with racing greyhounds few years back but these were like a whole different breed,, much taller and far bigger bone with a huge head on them, they were absolutly stunning! one in particular that had a grand build, decent looking dog took me eye, lovely vibe of sound temperment . . i have me name down for this dog if he doesn't make it as a coursing dog,, just wondered if any of you have taken on an ex coursing greyhound, if any came to be any good as a working dog either way even if he ends up as a companion i'll still be happy to take him on feel free to tell me any past working experiences with ex coursing dog, just out of curiosity all the very best Annemarie xx Quote Link to post

They were bred for better feet+stamina, and good prey-drive. Most come from the track to day, or coursing lines bred into track dogs. Thats what ive been told, i dont know how true that is.
