coursing greyhounds

Recommended Posts

recently due to very kind invitation i went over to ireland for a spot of deer stalking and fox hunting with privatly owned pack :victory: i loved it!! :clapper:

on our travels we met a fella who had a few coursing greyhounds,, a type of hound i hadn't seen before,, I have worked with racing greyhounds few years back but these were like a whole different breed,, much taller and far bigger bone with a huge head on them, they were absolutly stunning!

one in particular that had a grand build, decent looking dog took me eye, lovely vibe of sound temperment . .

i have me name down for this dog if he doesn't make it as a coursing dog,, just wondered if any of you have taken on an ex coursing greyhound, if any came to be any good as a working dog

either way even if he ends up as a companion i'll still be happy to take him on

feel free to tell me any past working experiences with ex coursing dog, just out of curiosity

all the very best Annemarie xx

If you do get him be carefull letting him run free in woodland if hes not used to it .As the coursing bitch that Dave who bred your pups had gave broke both its legs [bANNED TEXT] he let it off on a walk out in woodland. But with it being a coursing dog it should have some feild scence.atb dell

At one time, alot of people used coursing greyhounds for lurcher xs. They were bred for better feet+stamina, and good prey-drive. Most come from the track to day, or coursing lines bred into track dogs. Thats what ive been told, i dont know how true that is. Maybe the people in to greys might know.? :hmm:
