sounder 9
right lads i am feeding a pond the feed i am putting out is being 'eating or walking it into the mud at the side of the pond, as the weather is still good here and the cattle are still out , we are thinking of makeing a raft that will float in the pond just out of the water to put the feed on so the cattle will not get at it ,as it is deeper, has anyone done this !!!!! any photos or do you think it will work , please let me know, there is duck coming in to it now as it is i don't want to f**k it up, atb sounder
NorthernIreland 0
hi mate. the ponds i put feed down on, About two foot from the edge i put feed in the water, still there for the ducks and they dive for it. if you have funds, try a small electric fence up , put it few meters from the pond and still put your feed out where it is , keeps cattle away. i have used the way you are suggesting but we put a pallet tied to fence posts, didnt sit too far out of the water but enough to ensure feed stayed on it, it didnt sink or drift to edge. hope this helps pal. n.i Edited October 19, 2009 by NorthernIreland
wag 13
loads of people use floating rafts for feeding ducks, but mainly they are used for mallard, i have used them before when we used to shoot two big lakes, we used 8x4 ply boards with (pollystyreen) spelling stuck to the bottom of them then we was told to put turf on them by a old game keeper, also a bit of sand on it one end so the ducks can grit , i think the sand is mainly for the reared ducks , also make sure there flat on the water aand not raised out of it .. hope this helps you ray
