00taz11 39 Posted October 18, 2009 Report Share Posted October 18, 2009 well i decided to have a days ferreting at the estate im working at the now as ive not done any ferreting since march so i arrived around 8:30 decided to do the big set first ran the longnet around and put a few pursenets down put the ferrets in waited no show off the ferrets or any rabbits so i got the locater out could not get a reading at first i thought it was the locater then i suddenly got a reading i waited about half an hour for the ferrets to come up they finally did so i boxed them pulled up the longnet and purse nets and moved on to the small sets on a little hill at the bottom first set the fun began the rumbling underneath BANG a rabbit hit the net then the ferret just kept on showing moved onto the next sett nets on ferrets in after five minutes BANG one hit the net then another one after that it all went quiet got the locater out got a mark at 2 ft dug down landed on the rabbit got it out and dispatched it put my hand down again and got another one dispatched that on nowt else so i moved on got to a quite big sett put the nets on ferrets in BANG BANG two rabbits hit the net unluckily i was myself but i managed no show from the ferrets so locater out got a mark at 1ft dug down pulled out a big buck dispatched that put my hand down again and pulled up a 3/4 grown buck dispatched that nothing else in the sett so moved on at this time it was hitting half 12 next sett nets on 1 ferret in as it wasnt big waited 1o minutes no show got the locater out searched got mark at 3 ft dug down its was hard going as the ground was mostly gravelbut i managed to get there but to my horror the rabbit moved left it for 5 minutes and had a drink as it was hot so i searched again got a mark dug down 1ft got the rabbit out dispatched it nothing else moved on to a four holer netted up put the hob in BANG rabbit hit the net as i was dipatching the head keeper came over and had a look at my catch he was happy with it so he went to finish his feeding round so i continued got so i went along the banking found a sett that looked overrun with them nets on longnet round 20 minutes later BANG rabbit hit the net i was just about to sit down then BANG BANG it was like call of the wild dispatched them then a no show for about 2o minutes locater out got a mark at about 2 ft dug down pulled out a nice big buck 15nothing else in so moved to the last sett off the day the underkeeper showed up with his shotgun put the ferrets in rabbit bolted and it was taken by the first shot then after 10 minutes no show this time i was pi$$ed of so got a mark at 4 ft god help me dug down and pulled out 2 nice sized rabbits so the total bag was 17 which i was happy with so was the keeper heres a few pics Quote Link to post
