Parabuteos lad 878
after hearing about my harris dieing on friday i was e-mailed by a man who said he would give me a 2 year old male for free although i turned it down as i was unsure if it would cope with chasing rabbits because of aviery abandonment i feel this man is very respectable and deserve a round of applause Quote Link to post

It sounds like the birds been kept in an avairy for 2 years but I cant be sure and if that is the case I am astounded that your mentor feels it would be unable to cope with chasing rabbits it would require manning and fittness training but then it should be as good as any other hawk. jasper65 6
The only "Aviary abandonment" I have witnessed was a good few years ago when a Breeding female Gos decided to leave the aviary when I opended the door to take the first clutch, this Bird abandoned its aviary in a big f*****g way! after a week never to be seen again ..... Moral of the story!!!!! serves me f*****g right for not Building double doors, but a wise man learns from his mistakes....... Jasp Quote Link to post

Beastmaster1980 40
I would have snapped his hand off if he had offered me a free harris. A few weeks manning and fitness and you would have had a hawk as good as any. Never heard of lungs and organs not working because its been sat in avairy, yes it may be unfit but at 2 years old you would have no problem entering him on rabbits.
