first time i was in the sonora desert we caut antelope jack big feching hares they are ye alot of deserttype animals in new mexico ,great place if you had ferrets sma;l ones for bolting for pups

Whin, you've got me confused here, mate; the Sonoran desert isn't in New Mexico, and the gerbil/gerboa isn't native to the Americas, it's from Africa and the Middle East ???

Cheers.

sonora is in arizona near tuscon but you go through new mexico to go there , they are ground squirrels simliar to gerbil type thing you see allsorts of critters , if they had small ferrets over ther handy for starting pups as they are every were ,only thing in some areas you get rattle snakes ,hig ferret mortality ,

Been all over the 'States, mate, but the only hunting I've done was around San Antonio, Texas. Got a good mate in Reno, Nevada, but he is more into bikes than dogs ! LOL !

I made a list of places in the world I wanted to see, and two were in Texas; the Alamo, and Dealy Plaza where Kennedy got shot. Luckily, I had friends in San An, and I worked for an airline, so could fly for free. To fit in a bit of hunting was the icing on the cake !! Saw a few armadillos', weird creatures !

Cheers.

A 3 month old pup cousing and chasing rabbits ??????? never heard so much rubish in my life,, its a good way to make a yapper if ever there was one, a dog will never come to terms with its quarry at this age,, miss loads get dishearterned start yapping, or just refuse to run stuff near cover. The dog will also huntup, not good when you come to enter it to the lamp. UNFIT you are really talking silly mate,
only to people like your self that has never tried or seen it . ,a lot has seen that it does happen and how good the results are ,that is all i can say ,and a lot of the witnesses are on this site ,and take it from me ,they are doing it them selves with there pups .like i keep saying the pups are taken out with older dogs and just left to do what they want ,.its as simple as that .

The thread has gone from 3 month old dogs coursing rabbits-to taking them out to watch older dogs! Nothing new or mystical there!:clapper:

No problem in letting them have a look, but i wouldn't let them chase. Look at the wild dog-or any other predator. They do not accompany parents too young because of the risk of injury, not to mention the fact that they could f**k up a hunt-a hunt that means survival of the pack.

IMO the domestic dog is no different. This is not just written in books, this behavior has enabled these predators to survive for 1000's of years. :big_boss:

try telling that to the two 11month old dogs that was out last night ,they think they are 3 or 4 years old the way they work the lamp ,and they was started at 3 months and catching ,i suppose they could be a freak of nature ;) .just remember ,wild animals dont use lamps and battries to hunt with , Edited by UNFIT

I made my mind up a long time ago.You seem to think your the only one on here with more than afew seasons experience, your not and i doubt any one with a bit of knowledge will change the way they do things because of your writings, but there are a lot of newcomers who will think its ok to take there 3 month old pups hunting, not that i care, but i hate to see young dogs ruined. As would any dogman or women.
